Our RPG in development
We're building an RPG that respects player agency, rewards tactical decision-making, and gets out of the way when it matters most — the story between you and your table. This is a project driven by decades of collective playtesting experience, built by a team small enough to iterate on feedback in days instead of quarters.
Every system we design answers a single question: does this serve the story, or does the story serve this? We're cutting ruthlessly, prototyping constantly, and playtesting in the wild with our community of testers and advisors.
The pillars we're building on
A serious RPG is built on four pillars. Here's how we're approaching each.
World and setting
A living world with depth and texture. Places, factions, and cultures that make sense together and feel like they'd exist whether the players show up or not.
Combat systems
Tactics that matter. Every decision at the table — positioning, resource management, preparation — shapes the outcome. Combat serves the narrative, not the other way around.
Narrative and character
Writing that trusts the player. NPCs with genuine stakes, dialogue that breathes, and story beats that emerge from player choice, not scripted railroads.
Art direction
Visual consistency that reinforces the world. From the look of the rulebook to the way spells are rendered, every detail points in the same direction.
How we design
Our process is built around speed and honesty. We prototype a system in days, not weeks. We playtest it immediately — first internally with the core team, then with our growing circle of external testers and advisors who know the genre inside and out. We listen, we cut, we rebuild.
Because we're small, we move fast. A design problem that would require a six-week cycle at a studio of fifty people gets solved in a sprint here. We can chase an idea to its conclusion, realize it doesn't work, and pivot before the next playtest session without layers of approval or sunk-cost thinking.
The RPG community is our compass. We don't design in a vacuum. Every playtest session, every piece of feedback, every argument around a table informs what we build next. That's the thinking behind the work: ruthless iteration toward something that actually plays the way it reads.
Where things stand
We're in active development across all fronts — systems are being built and stress-tested, the world is coming into focus, and art direction is solidifying. This is the work phase, when everything is still malleable and feedback carries real weight.
In active development
Core systems, world-building, and narrative are all live and iterating. Every playtest session feeds the next cycle.
Testing with the community
We work with experienced RPG players and game masters who push back hard and help us see what we're missing.
Following our compass
Everything we build serves a single north star: does this serve the story the players want to tell?
